ABOUT the Doan Gang
In 1783, the Pennsylvania Assembly passed an Act regarding the most notorious outlaws in the land.
Calling them “felons, murders and traitors to the American cause,” the Pennsylvania Commonwealth issued a warrant for the capture or killing of members of the Doan Gang.
In addition to countless alleged acts of treachery, two years earlier the outlaws robbed the Bucks County treasury of banknotes, gold and silver. It remains to this day one of the largest thefts of public funds in U.S. history.
